Pride and Prejudice

“I cannot fix on the hour, or the spot, or the look or the words, which laid the foundation. It is too long ago. I was in the middle before I knew that I had begun.” –Pride and Prejudice

Name that character…?? I’m sure it’s not difficult! It’s only one of the most romantic lines ever written.

And seriously, who could help falling in love with Elizabeth Bennet? I can’t remember when it started for me. Can any of us?

Jane Austen loved her just as much as we do and wrote this about Elizabeth to her sister Cassandra: “I must confess that I think her as delightful a creature as ever appeared in print, and how I shall be able to tolerate those who do not like her at least I do not know.”

If you’ve never experienced the joy of reading Pride and Prejudice for yourself, do it…today! You will love all the Bennets, Mr. Darcy, and of course Austen’s incredible wit. If you have, who is YOUR favorite character??

This green, rose, and gold edition was printed in 1945. The boxed edition with the sketch is from 1976 and was my grandmother’s. Be still my heart!
